Stephanie Schmidt Named to Top 100 People List by PA Business Central
For more than 20 years, the Pennsylvania Business Central has entered the new year by celebrating the top 100 people in its expanding readership that have accomplished both personal and financial success with an honest sense of direction imbued in them by mentors, personal experiences, failures and successes.
Our editorial team once again had hundreds of nominations to select from to form this year’s list.
Narrowing the total number of nominees down to 100 proved to be difficult as there are so many people in Pennsylvania working hard to create jobs, expand communities and lend a hand to their neighbors.
In the spirit of finding one’s direction, we asked all finalists what their first job was and how it affected them personally and professionally. The results are inspiring yet grounding. As we read the story of every finalist, we developed a fuller picture of how success starts from humble beginnings.
Of course no one’s success is entirely their own. Many of those selected had the benefits of supportive financially- stable families and moved forward in their careers with certain privileges that never come to many in this world. But if you step away from the big picture and instead focus on each individual life, you will see human beings who have not only made the most of what they have been given, but have also spread that success to their community and to those in need.
These worthy nominees set themselves apart throughout the year with their corporate leadership, community involvement and contributions to the business sector.
STEPHANIE SCHMIDT
Poole Anderson Construction; President
Schmidt Stephanie Schmidt is president of Poole Anderson Construction, a 92 year old Central Pennsylvania-based construction company. She is a graduate of Penn State with a degree in architectural engineering and began her career with Gilbane Building Company.
In 1999 she joined Poole Anderson as vice president of business development to boost the firm’s growth. Schmidt progressed to vice president of operations and eventually president. Under Stephanie’s guidance and commitment to building strong partnerships, Poole Anderson has become one of Pennsylvania’s largest and most respected constructors.
Stephanie’s strong belief in giving back to both her construction industry and her community is represented by her volunteer service. As regional vice president of the National Association of Builders and Contractors, she represents seven states on the National Executive Committee as well as serving as past chairperson and member of the ABC Central PA Board of Directors. She is an active member of the Pennsylvania Council of General Contractors and serves on the Penn College Construction Management Advisory Council. She also served on the executive committees for the CBICC and State College Area YMCA, the SCASD Facilities Advisory Committee and the Discovery Space of Central PA founding Board of Directors.
In her leisure time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family, Penn State sports and traveling.
