F&M Winter Visual Arts Center’s Specialty Glass Installation Nearing Completion

Another major milestone is nearing completion at the F&M Winter Visual Arts Center project as the specialty glass is being installed after traveling over 4,300 miles from Poland to the ports of NY to its final destination in Lancaster PA. Our project team recently embarked on installing the 2,000 pound, 16 feet tall structural glass panels signifying a culmination of a rigorous collaboration with our partners National Enclosure Co (Ypsilanti, MI) and Eckersley O’Callaghan (New York, NY).

Due to the project’s unique combination of three types of glazing systems: Curved Channel Glass (Bendheim Inc. – Germany), Custom Steel Fin Curtain Wall and Structural Glass Systems (Press Glass – Poland), Poole Anderson initiated an 8 month predevelopment process and refined the design to work with adjoining system tolerances and deflections, as well as constructability. We also utilized Building Information Modeling (BIM) to field measure the glass digitally and released the glass for fabrication before the building was out of the ground. The results are in – all pieces fit!
